Christmas Goodies :)

So the festive holidays are over now and everyone is returning to the general humdrum of everyday life. I'm dreading taking the decorations down on Sunday as I always get hit with the worst January blues when that happens. I spend so long decorating the house and making it feel festive and sparkly that its literally heartbreaking when it comes to taking it all down again and putting everything back in the loft... and the beautiful tree we picked out at a nursery early December will soon be confined to the garden where I'll look at it sadly and reminisce about it being covered in baubles and tinsel. Apologies for the nostalgia heavy sadness in this post, lets try and perk things up a bit!

So, what goodies did everyone get for Christmas? I was very lucky this year and was incredibly spoiled by my parents and boyfriend. I got loads of things - lots of gorgeous clothes and shoes, loads of lovely ballistics and bubble bars from LUSH, a Wacom graphics tablet, lots of other fun things and of course... a hell of a lot of makeup!

Eyeshadow palette that I've been lusting over - the one with 120 shadows that are all really good quality :), 2 x Bare Minerals foundations, Benefit Dandelion, Beauty Benefits Dual Effects lip pencil, Clinique Quickliner for eyes, Urban Decay primer potion, Urban Decay Oil Slick and Midnight Cowgirl eyeshadows, Urban Decay Rocks, Urban Decay Cosmopolitan Shot-o-gloss, Concealer palette with all different shades (some of the darker ones I use for contouring) and also (not pictured) Clinique High Impact Mascara and my absolute new must have favourite, the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette - which is literally the most amazing thing I have ever owned, I can't rave about it enough!

Here's a picture of my look on New Years Eve, before I went out - wearing the Urban Decay naked basics palette on my eyes and the Urban Decay rocks too (on the outer corners of my eyes) and the black sparkly fluffy shrug top was from New Look as a little pressie from my boyfriend :)

I hope you all had wonderful Christmases and New Years!! :) what did everyone get up to?

Beauty Disaster!! Help meeeee!

**DON'T READ IF YOU'RE OF A SENSITIVE / SQUEAMISH NATURE WHEN IT COMES TO EYELASHES**

Dear fabulous followers - I'm so sorry I've been absent! please forgive me? *sobs heartily* I come to you in great need this evening... for reassurance, sympathy and great ideas!

Basically... yesterday morning, whilst curling my lashes with my faithful little metal curlers, with a fan blowing at me to keep me cool during this heatwave we're having... I mistook some of my hair that blew across onto my shoulder for a spider... and... I freaked out and jumped and riiiiiiip... out came all the top lashes on my right eye :-/ yes, you heard that right - all my precious natural lashes were stuck to the curlers and my poor eye was nearly completely bald, apart from about 10 straggly little lashes clinging on for dear life...

Needless to say I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I quickly glued on some falsies and tried my hardest not to cry. I can't wait until they grow back to their natural length, but to be honest... I just can't wait until they grow back even a little bit!! even short stubby ones will be better than nothing at all :-/ soooo my lovelies, I'm wondering if any of you have any ideas on how I can grow my natural lashes back ASAP? I applied vaseline to my lash line last night whilst I slept to try and encourage the lashes to come back, but ideally I'd just really like some idea on how soon I can expect the lashes to come back through / how I can speed the process up?

Oh... and to top it all off, today I managed to rip off the toenail on my middle toe... wtf?! this really is not my week. I decided in a fit of madness to use some nail glue to just stick it back down, which probably wasn't the best idea, but at least it won't be going anywhere... :-/ haha.

What's the most painful / stupid beauty disaster you've had? or horror story that you've heard?

Hello Again!! (and a new fringe, woo!)

Dear me it's been a while! I must learn to stop neglecting my blog!!

I have so much to write about! :) I think the last proper post I made was from last year, when our kitchen ceiling randomly broke, fortunately that's all fixed now, it's funny how you take a ceiling for granted, haha, I was so happy when it was all fixed and back to normal :)

I also have a fringe now! yay! I took the plunge and decided to get it cut in late last year. I then made the stupid mistake of trying to trim it myself leaving me with a bit of a weird wonky fringe, but then my lovely boyfriend treated me to a trip to an Aveda salon to have my hair cut all pretty and it's back to looking respectable now. I really love having a fringe, I used to have one as a kid but then I grew it out, and I have those really annoying little short baby hairs along my hairline, which I was always having to try and hairspray down... but now I don't have to worry about them.
I've been spending a lot more time on my hair recently, ever since I got it done all nicely and seem to have invested in literally thousands of products! I'll make sure I review them all because some of them really are just awesome!

So what's been happening in everyone's lives since I've been away from my blog? I hope you're all well!! :)

Party Look

Exploding Ceilings and getting to know me a bit better :)

What a night I've had! I popped out to see my boyfriend for a bit and when I got home our kitchen ceiling had randomly caved in... (ie. plaster, wood and gallons upon gallons of water everywhere) it was a nightmare! fortunately my lovely neighbour came round and helped to clean it all up and our house insurance should cover the repairs and hopefully we'll have a brand new ceiling very soon... because let me tell you, looking in the kitchen right now just makes me want to cry! haha.

We think what had happened was that our shower pipe thingies broke and so the space inbetween the bathroom floor and kitchen ceiling filled up with water and damaged all the wood and plaster, causing it to collapse...urgh!

Anyway... in happier news! I came across this little survey on the lovely Emily's blog - One Way Beauty, and thought it'd be fun to fill it out :)

10 Little Secrets

1) What is one product that makes you feel like a million dollars?
Bright Red Lipstick! My favourites being - Red Velvet by bareMinerals and a Shu Uemura lipstick that I've forgotten the name of! it's a beautiful rich red and just makes me feel so glamourous :) I also love how red lipstick can brighten up a face so quickly, if I don't have time to apply a full face of makeup I'll always just stick on a couple of coats of mascara and then finish off the look with red lips!

2) What is your skincare secret/a passed down skincare tip?
I never use face washes and things because when I did use to use them, they always seemed to bring me out in spots... instead I just wash my face with warm water and I very very very rarely (*touch wood*) get spots. I always moisturise though! with either Olay Beauty Fluid or Palmers Cocoa Butter.

3) Share your hair care secret?
I actually cut my own hair! I use to visit salons and get my hair done all the time but I'm living on a tight budget now, so rather than spend money having my hair cut, I thought I'd teach myself how to do it. It took me a while to work up the courage, but I started by snipping little bits off and making sure it was even, before I went into cutting more off. Now I've been cutting it since January 2012 :) I'd definitely go to a salon if I was after a more adventurous hair cut though!!

4) What is your biggest diet rule?
I have never been on a diet because I don't put weight on very easily, so I can't really comment. Although, I'd definitely say, don't deprive yourself of your favourite things! it'll only make you want them all the more... be sure to treat yourself to things!
5) Any workout tips?
Belly Dancing! it's the best possible work out ever. I'm a self taught tribal style belly dancer, I got into it about 5 years ago and it really does wonders for your figure! I'd recommend it a thousand times over :)

6) Which perfume is your secret weapon?
Lolita Lempicka, I'm absolutely addicted to Lolita Lempicka scents, and the bottles are adorable! One Christmas my mother went to Harrods and treated me to a crystal and flower bejeweled limited edition of the Lolita Lempicka fragrance because I love it so much and it still has pride of place on my dressing room table :) it's such a beautiful bottle and has the most amazing scent ever, everyone always comments on it when I wear it, even strangers! it's quite an intoxicating blend.

7) What clothing item of yours always turns heads?
I have this very short clingy red and white dress that I bought for about £20 from Apricot and everyone loves it! my boyfriends always asking me to wear it when we go out and about, hehe

8) What is your most treasured piece of jewellery?
I'm obsessed with silver bracelets and have bought one from every country I've visited (and every country my parents have been to as well!) so my most treasured piece of jewellery is a silver bracelet that my parents bought me for my 21st birthday, this one they bought in England though! it's an Atlas bracelet from Tiffany & Co. and I absolutely treasure it because it's so beautiful and sentimental to me.

9) Who is your style crush?
I really love the Romani Gypsy-esque style clothes that Lily Cole wears in the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, I really like her style in most pictures I've seen of her!

10) Tell us something we don't know about you
I present and produce my own rock and metal radio show, called "Metal Mania" on ICR. It's a great experience and has meant I've got to interview some of my all time most favourite bands and I get to go to great gigs and festivals, it's perfect! I'm very girly so most people find it quite odd when they realise I'm into heavy metal and thrash music!!

I want everyone to do this little survey and I hope you'll post in the comments to your blog post so I can learn a bit more about you too :) I'm now off to try and clean up the kitchen a bit more! hopefully the ceiling will be sorted soon :)
