On another note, what is everyone up to this bank holiday? :) Dan and I are planning to curl up and watch a film with a takeaway tonight. Tomorrow we're heading to a party and then on Sunday we're hoping to go visit a stately home (I'm obsessed with stately homes!). Monday we might be going to a Camel park in Suffolk - very random having camels in Suffolk! lol. I hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

Updates and a small OOTN (outfit of the NIGHT :D)

The past few weeks have been non-stop madness (in a good way!) I had an interview the other week with a company who seem amazing. I really love their whole ethos and the work they do, so I'd love to work with them. It all sounds quite hopeful, but I'm going to be keeping my fingers crossed to be on the safe side! :)

I also went to a party on Saturday night which was fun, lots of friendly people and giggles :) and then on the Sunday I went for lunch in Norfolk with Dans family to celebrate his Grandparents 60th Anniversary. It was a really fun day, his family is so friendly and welcoming. When we got back to Suffolk we sat outside on the decking at his house on a swinging seat and discussed our future. We're planning to buy a house and get married in 4 years time (eeek adultness!) so lots and lots of money saving needs to be done before then! lol.

The next couple of weeks are looking quite hectic too - there are two more parties (why is everyone having a party this time of year?) and lots more fun things planned. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures.

For the party the other other night I decided to wear my trusty red dress. I absolutely love this thing but I can only wear it when I'm feeling confident! it's definitely not a dress to put on when I'm feeling shy as it's bright vibrant red and super clingy. So here is my little OOTN =

What is your favourite dress in your wardrobe that you absolutely love but rarely wear?

Supermarket sweep!

My parents have gone away on holiday so Dan and I have been playing house :) granted we lived together in London for a year but that was in an apartment in East London - significantly different from a countryside house surrounded by fields and trees. As much as I love my parents and get on really well with them, it's lovely having some time to myself again. The transition from living on my own to going back and living with my parents was quite a weird one - I feel as though I've reverted back to being a kid, lol. So yes, having the house to myself feels lovely! :)

I just wanted to write a little post about some products I picked up in the supermarket the other day. Dan and I were doing a shop (I'm cooking for us every night this week... eeeek!) and I thought I'd treat myself to a couple of things.

I've always really disliked Collection 2000, I used to think their products were cheap and tacky and didn't work properly... that was until I found a lipstick from one of their collections in my mums makeup bag and gave it a try. It was amazing, so I had to pick one up for myself :). I settled on Plum Perfection, from their volume sensation collection and it only set me back £2 in ASDA, total bargain! (check out all the shades here - Volume Sensation) I absolutely love this lipstick, it's amazzzzing. The colour is very vibrant and it feels very volumising on my lips, it also has a very moisturising texture. The best thing though is that the colour lasts for ages. Unlike most cheap lipsticks I've tried - which seem to rub off instantly, this one stays on for a long time. The pics below were taken after I'd applied the lipstick about an hour before (great coverage and wear for such a moisturising lipstick!)

I also picked up the Collection 2000 shine away compact powder. I don't tend to wear powders much, unless they're Bare Minerals, but I thought I'd get some of this for nights out and stuff - when I end up looking sweaty and icky. I've used it a couple of times since I bought it and I'm really impressed. For such a cheap price this product really does work. It's also quite useful if you don't fancy applying foundation but want to give your skin a little bit of coverage as it seems to tone down any red patches on my face.

The last thing I bought was Maybellines eyeliner-matic. I normally use Bourjois khol and contour but thought I'd give Maybelline a go as it's cheaper :) it comes in a plastic pencil type contraption and you just twist the liner up, which is handy. I wasn't too impressed on first use because it doesn't come out particularly dark on my waterline, so I have to draw quite a few lines until it looks black... but it does look good when I use it to line along my lashlines instead of liquid eyeliner - it gives quite a smudgy rock'n'roll effect (which I love :D)

I'll do a post with pictures of the powder and eyeliner shortly :) for now I'll leave you with this strange picture of yours truly with some lilies! lol.

an EOTD post

I was soooo bored today, I literally had nothing to do at all :( so I thought I'd have a play around and doll my eyes up nicely, here are a few pics -

I'm wearing Sell Out and Perversion (literally my two staple eyeshadows, I'm obsessed with them!) by Urban Decay. Rimmel liquid eyeliner, Urban Decay pencil liner and Estee Lauder Magnascopic mascara. It's a very simple and shimmery look :)

Also, check out my weird irises - I literally can't figure out what colour my eyes are, sometimes they're blue, then they're green and other times they are silver, and I have a weird green star pattern around my pupils. Maybe I'm an alien *creepy twilight zone music plays in the background* lol.

A OOTN post :)

I'm a bit of a night owl and so most of the time I only really dress for the night. Half the time during the day, if I'm not going out anywhere, I'll tend to just throw on something comfortable and practical in order to slouch around the house.

I went to my local pub this evening (it's a great place - lots of friendly people and a really happy and warm atmosphere) obviously it wasn't really a dressy occasion, so I went for a casual look :)

The dress is from a boutique store called Pink Zip and I love it because it has a bit of a 60s vibe about it and it's quite clingy. The boots are from Rocket Dog (I LOVE boots, especially suede boots! I tend to wear them all the time, even during the summer, lol) I also just noticed I have a ladder in my tights, oops, pesky ladders!

I'm so desperately in need of a haircut it's unreal. My hair is in awful condition right now, it's gone all straggley and nasty and no ammount of deep conditioning seems to be sorting it out. I think I'll be booking myself into a salon shortly!

The quest for a Jolie pout

Almost every woman I know seems to be on a quest to find the perfect lip plumper, myself included! although I naturally have quite voluminous lips I still want them bigger and more pouty. I've tried numerous lip plumpers to try and enhance my lips further (and in turn, so has my mum, as her lips are quite thin) and I thought I'd review some of the products I've used and let you know how I got on :)

Me wearing Too Faced lip injection gloss

 # 1 - Too Faced Lip injection
This is my ultimate favourite lip plumper, it works SO well and gives me a gorgeous bee-stung pout. I quite like the tingly effect it has on my lips, although some people might find it a bit too much. I normally use the clear version although I have tried a couple of the Technocolour glosses too (they're quite shimmery and have a wash of colour to them) it's very glossy and looks great over the top of any lipstick, or just worn on its own. I'd definitely 100% recommend this gloss if you're looking for a fuller pout, it does exactly what it says it will :)

# 2 - Bare Minerals Buxom lip polish
I used to work as a beauty ambassador for Bare Minerals when I was at university, so I quickly became addicted to their products. The Buxom lip polish is one of my favourite products - not only do they smell and taste divine (very sweet and sugary) but the colours are amazing and they really work to enhance your pout. My two favourite shades were Kanani and Trixie (Trixie is one of the most popular shades - a pinky tone with subtle gold shimmer, and we were always selling out of this when I worked on the counter) it tingles quite a bit when you apply it (not as much as the Too Faced lip injection though) and also cools and refreshes your lips as well as keeping them well moisturised and hydrated.

#3 - Benefit lip plump
I normally love Benefit products but I wasn't particularly fond of this lip plumper. It's more of a primer, or a product to tone down your lipstick and give you a nude lip effect, rather than something that will increase the size of your lips. I felt no tingly sensation whatsoever and it didn't increase the size of my lips. It works well as a base for nude lips though as I said above, so I tend to just use it for that purpose.

What do you all feel is the best lip plumper on the market? :)

Versace Sensual Glam

I was going through some of the drawers in my bedroom this morning (my room is in desperate need of a tidy up, I still haven't got round to it and I've been back here for over a month now! lol) and I came across a random Versace Sensual Glam lipstick in V2013. I vaguely remember buying this a few years back but never really got round to trying it out as it isn't really my colour. Today, however, I thought I'd try it out and I think I'm pretty much in love. I'll have to hunt out some more of these lipstick in some shades that are more suited to my colourings.

The casing is pretty cute and quite glam, like most standard Versace items. The colour of V2013 is quite difficult to describe. In the above picture it appears to be quite a bright pinky colour, but in the below (one I took myself - apologies for it being somewhat blurry!) it's more of a lilac hue.

The lipstick goes on really creamy and feels amazing on your lips, it almost has the texture of a balm on first application and the colour is really bright and vivid after one application. The creamy effect does wear off though and about 10 minutes later it felt quite drying on my lips, but the colour stayed put for hours and hours (even though I was drinking coffee and eating food) so I can forgive the fact it ended up feeling quite dry - almost as though I had nothing on my lips at all.

As you can see from the pics of my lips above, the colour did come out very purple / lilac on my lips. The lipsticks pinky tones were enhanced with the camera flash but the swatch on the right is a more true to reality - the lipstick looked almost exactly that shade, except lighter. It's not really a colour I feel I could wear every day, but it might be good for more dramatic makeup.

I definitely want to try out some more of the Sensual Glam lipsticks though, they have some quite nice shades and the texture of the lipstick is possibly one of the best I've ever tried.

New youtube account :)

I decided to put a couple of videos up on Youtube, but because my main account is full of dancing videos (I'm a self taught amateur belly dancer!) I thought I'd create a new one specifically for this blog. There's not much on there at the moment but I'm hoping to put some fun and interesting things up soon :). Feel free to subscribe and I'll return the favour. Youtube is so much fun! :)

I wish I could live in the bath! (& a small face mask review)

I think I must have been a mermaid in a previous life or something because I'm completely unable to go a day without having a bath. I shower every morning without fail and even though it probably seems a bit excessive to have a bath every day as well as a shower, I can't help it, I'm completely addicted!

Last night I had the most awesome bath known to man. I poured a cup of milk into the water (I'm turning into Cleopatra according to my friends) and used a strawberry facemask that smelt edible. Then I chilled out in the bath and read some of my new book (The bed I made by Lucie Whitehouse)

Montagne Jeunesse are well known for their face masks - they're literally in every supermarket and drug store, often arranged on a rack with loads of pretty eye-catching designs and titles that just scream out to be eaten (don't laugh! I've often been tempted to eat the fudge sauna mask!)

I decided to try out the Strawberry Souffle mask this time round because it's summer and I love the scent of strawberries. This mask cost me 99p from Tescos which is a total bargain :). It applies like any normal mask, you just clean your face with plain water, dry your skin and apply the product to your face with your fingers. There's a lot in the packet so I applied it to my neck as well. The product claims "loaded with strawberry goodness which leaves skin hydrated and refreshed, allowing your skin to breathe with soothing aloe vera and calming vanilla for purified, toned, smoother skin. Cleanse with this treat weekly".  The mask smells divine, really fresh and packed full of strawberries and cream. I left the mask on for about 20 - 25 minutes whilst I relaxed in the bath and tried to resist the temptation to attempt to lick it off my face, lol. After I washed it off I could definitely feel a difference - my skin was a lot smoother and any dry patches had been eliminated, plus the mask has a lingering scent which meant I could still smell strawberries when I went to sleep, which was nice.

My favourite Montagne Jeunesse mask is still the fudge sauna one, simply because it heats up when it comes into contact with water and it smells AMAZING, literally amazing! but the Strawberry Souffle one is pretty damn good too and will do wonders for your skin if it's quite dry.

What are your favourite face masks?

My favourite items

My wardrobe is a treasure trove of random items, I find it tough to throw anything out so I still have all sorts in there, even my super sparkly prom dress from seven years ago! fortunately I have two bedrooms (a tad excessive perhaps, lol, but I have far too much stuff to keep in one room) and my second bedroom has a walk in wardrobe, so I keep the clothes I wear most frequently in there.

I thought I'd document some of my most favourite items and tell you why I love them so much.

This pic is from when I was 20, I'd been doing modelling since my mid-teens but I really love this one pic because of the dress :) I still have this dress and I don't wear it as often as I should. I tend to stick to quite muted colours normally (lots of black!) so I'm completely in love with this red dress due to the vibrancy of it, plus it makes me feel happy :) (dress from a boutique)

A little OOTD post

I'm pretty much just posting this because I'm in love with my shoes and tights, but I thought rather than post endless pictures of my shoes I'd turn it into a little OOTD post :)

Forgive my weird expressions, I was playing around in the garden and it was quite bright! lol. The top is from Miss Selfridge, it's dark brown (bit weird that I bought it considering I don't tend to wear brown) but I love the lace at the neck and sleeves.

Just a quick explanation about the plasters - I had to have blood tests the other day and my inner elbow is all bruised and sore, so I've been covering it up with plasters (weirdly plasters seem to stop it hurting, it's probably the pressure)

I bought the skirt from Topshop - I pretty much live in little black skirts although recently I've begun worrying that I'm too old to wear mini skirts now (I know I'm probably not, but I worry about it all the same! lol).

Now my favourite bit of the outfit :) the tights and shoes! I honestly can't remember where I bought these tights from, but I love them to bits, whenever I wear them people always seem to come up to me and say "I love your tights!" which is a little bit odd but nice of them! lol.  The shoes are from New Look - which in my eyes is the best place to buy shoes on a budget. I must have hundreds of pairs of shoes and a vast majority come from New Look, purely because their prices are great, who can stick their nose up at a pair of shoes that cost between £20 - £25 and last for ages? I've been buying shoes from New Look for years and years and I've never had a pair break on me yet (*touch wood*)

I love these shoes because they're so understated and can be worn with pretty much anything really. The scuffed effect makes them look vintage and a bit retro and I really like the two straps :)

Every day makeup looks

I realised earlier that I've never actually posted a picture of my every day makeup look before. I tend to go for quite a basic look - semi smokey eyes, pink lips & soft sheeny foundation / blush. The main focus is often on my eyebrows, which I like to keep quite dark and dramatic. I'm also a total mascara addict and will apply around 3 coats in order to get my lashes to bulk up.

I like wearing nude / natural colours on my lid and then I tend to contour the shape of my eye with a darker shade of brown to accentuate :) The products I use on a daily basis are as follows -

1) Boijous kohl and contour eyeliner in black
2) Estee Lauder magnoscoptic mascara
3) Urban Decay primer potion
4) Urban Decay eyeshadows in midnight cowboy rides again, sell out and oilslick
5) Bare Minerals foundation in fair
6) Bare Minerals GLEE all over face colour
7) Benefit Highbeam highlighter
8) Too Faced Lip injection
9) Bare Minerals Bavarian Creme lipstick
10) Bareminerals precision eyeliner brush (I use this for the ends of my eyebrows)
11) Bareminerals angled brow brush (used to fill in the wider sections of my brows)

Crazy hair! the perils of split ends

I'm a bit of a bohemian, I like things to be laid back and relaxed and my hair is a perfect example of this. I used to be a slave to my GHD straighteners.. until my best friend Becky trod on them, so I bought some more - desperate to maintain my sleek and poker straight mane, but after a couple of weeks she trod on them too., lol. After two pairs of GHDs being massacred by my accident prone best friend, I thought I'd see if I could cope without them. That was about 4 years ago and I'm still hair straightener free!

My hair is naturally quite wavy and these days I tend to just wash and go, no mucking around with electrical appliances (to be honest I'm just too lazy!) but because my hair is so long now and I haven't had it cut for over 7 months, it's prone to looking quite frizzy and icky, which is where my hair life saving products come into play.

Charles Worthington no frizz flawless finishing cream
This product is my ultimate lifesaver, where I used to rely on straighteners to combat the frizz, I now just smooth a little bit of this through my hair when it's dry and it leaves my hair feeling like silk - all the split ends are disguised and my hair looks sleek and shiny, yet still wavy and bohemian. It's no hassle whatsoever and doesn't leave a greasy feel which is always good.

Lee Stafford spray shine, shine head
I tend to spritz a little bit of this on after I've used the Charles Worthington finishing cream just to give extra protection against the dulling effect split ends can give the hair. Just like the Worthington cream, this spray isn't greasy and doesn't leave a heavy residue on the hair, it just leaves my hair looking shiny and healthy, but still lets me keep my wavy natural hair style.

Both of these products are fantastic and I use them pretty much on a daily basis. Without them I'd probably have to give in and purchase another pair of GHDs just to keep my hair looking healthy and gleaming.

Accidental Hiatus!

Oops! it appears as though I went on an accidental hiatus for a while there, I'm back now though :) yay!

Quite a lot has happened in the past couple of months... I went to Download (as I mentioned in the post below) and it was AMAZING, I also won a competition to present my own show on Download FM on the Sunday which was great. Sadly it rained loads on Sunday during and after Billy Idol, so I was soaked for my show, but it was great fun :) staying in VIP camping was awesome too - proper toilets (with sinks and soap!!) and hot showers and it only took us about 2 minutes to get into the arena from our tent, lol, we literally just wandered into the hospitality entrance and then into the arena past the main stage, good times! :) overall it was a fantastic weekend (highlights being - AC/DC, Rage against the machine, Cinderella, Slash, Saxon, Billy Idol and Aerosmith)

A couple of weeks after Download the lease on our flat in Aldgate East came up (one of my flatmates has gone travelling around India for a year so we had to cancel our contract early) so Dan and I moved back to Suffolk. I was sad to leave London as I have loads of happy memories of being there, but I'm a country girl at heart so being back in Suffolk is great - so many trees, fields and animals! plus we're surrounded by beaches (which has been super handy given the heat wave we've had recently)

The main news though is that I now have a wonderful boyfriend... Dan! yes, my best friend Dan and I decided to stop messing around and actually get together. We've been best friends for 6 years and something has always been there but I only just realised. I literally woke up one morning and thought "Omg... I love him!" so we had a heart to heart and decided to get together :) we're blissfully happy and I've never felt this way about someone before, so completely relaxed and at ease, he's amazing and I feel so lucky to have realised how much he means to me :) we've lived together for a year already in London, so we did things kind of backwards really, lol... but we're looking to move into a cottage in rural Suffolk soon :)
I'm going to High Voltage festival this weekend coming up which will be great! and we're staying in a 5 star hotel over the weekend too, woo, exciting times! :D

I'm going to work on some review posts and things now, I just wanted to keep you all updated as to what I've been up to recently, hope you're all well :)

Festivals - the best things in the world!

Festival season is almost upon us and in celebration I thought I'd dedicate a post to talking about my favourite festival of all time - Download! :)

I first started going to festivals when I was about 12 - my first ever festival was Reading, and I remember my ticket only cost around £90 and the bands were pretty hard rocking. Recently Reading seems to have begun to cater more for the indie crowd and doesn't seem to have much hard rock on the bill... so Download is definitely the best festival in my eyes!

Download Festival is the child of Monsters of Rock, probably the best festival known to man. Over the past couple of years DL has been focusing more on classic rock and 80s hair metal, which means I'm a complete devoted fan! This year the three headliners feature one of the biggest bands of all time - AC/DC, as well as Aerosmith and Rage against the machine... it looks set to be one hell of a weekend and I'm so excited I could cry!
Some of the things I really love about Download is that it's such a friendly festival - I've never had any trouble when I've been there and always met some really lovely people. It also has some of the best after hours entertainment of any festival I've ever attended - so I'm pretty much never bored whenever I'm there.

It's only 22 days until this years Download and I'm SO excited. I can't wait to be back in those wonderful fields at Donington Park, rocking out to some of my favourite bands of all time :) I've seen AC/DC live before and they are ridiculously amazing on stage, so I'm looking forward to them returning to Donington, it's going to be incredible!

If you fancy checking out Download for yourself have a little look at the official website here - http://downloadfestival.co.uk and check out the video below for an awesome performance from AC/DC playing Donington back in 1991! :D

Updates

I've been so busy recently it's unreal! lots of exciting developments in my life that I'll keep you updated about as they happen no doubt, but at the moment I don't want to talk about them incase I jinx everything! lol.

I've been visiting my parents in Suffolk for the past couple of weeks, it's been really nice chilling out in the countryside with my big fat cat Poppy, but I'm heading back to London on Sunday which will be nice as I do quite miss it and my friends.
Poppy covered in cobwebs, lol

One thing I've attempted to do since I've been visiting my parents is to sort out everything I left behind in my bedroom when I moved to London. This has been such an epic task it's unreal, and I've barely managed to get any of it sorted out so my bedroom is still a total state, urgh. Very bad times! lol.

I'm working on pulling together some random posts shortly, so watch this space :)

Spring is coming!

Ok, maybe I'm a few days ahead of myself... evidently spring doesn't start till the 21st, but... I'm excited! I absolutely adore the spring, it's so nice to be able to wander around without a coat and not get frostbite and to see all the flowers starting to blossom. I also love the fact that it's starting to get lighter in the evenings, it happens so quickly - one minute it's horrible and dark and depressing, the next it's light and sunny and everyone is smiling - casting off their winter blues and radiating positivity, what's not to love? I get so excited thinking about it, it's all I've been talking about recently. Whenever my flat mates get home from work, I literally rush up to them squealing about how awesome it is to see the sun shining.

This summer I have quite a few things I'm really excited about - I'm suppose to be going to America for a mini road trip (& finally heading to Salem hopefully!) with some family friends and I'm also heading back to Download Festival where I'm going to see AC/DC again and Aerosmith (amazing!!!! :D). Last years Download was phenomenal, so I can't wait for this year!

However, I don't think any Spring / Summer will ever beat last years... it was just perfect in every way. I turned 21 and then saw loads of my favourite bands at Download, then headed to Bratislava, then as soon as I got back I went to see AC/DC live at Wembley, then after that I semi-moved to London... & then I went to Leeds festival and also another random little festival in Bradford, and then Whitby... all in all it was just an uber good few months.

So with memories of an amazing spring / summer still fresh in my mind, I'm welcoming this years offerings with open arms, come on S/S 2010 - I can't wait :D
